A Walker Family Thanksgiving - SOLD OUT

The community is invited to join with the Walkers in celebrating the family, the harvest, and the cycles of life with original and traditional songs performed by Amy Walker, Paul Houser, Tom and Claudia Walker, and their special guests: Ben Walker, Linda Morris, Randy Hudson, Dave Bokel, and Jennifer Bondelid. An evening of heartwarming, fun-loving, and thought-provoking music by this well-known, musical Whidbey Island family awaits you.

In their own words:

“I learned harmony in the back seat on family road trips.  Then later I took up guitar when my drums were stolen out of a church chapel in 1968.  If I ever catch that guy, I'm gonna thank him. It has been a real honor to perform sold-out shows with the Rural Characters and raise money for local artists.  To be on stage with family is a chance of a lifetime.  I'm bringing my whole heart to it.” - Tom Walker

“Hey, me too! I learned harmony in the back seat of the car standing between my parents as they harmonized on the golden oldies of their childhood. My teenage dream was to use music as a tool to help people. I love performing at WICA! It was a privilege to sing with ‘SING!chronicity’, the first act on the WICA stage 20 years ago, and now singing with my family is icing on the cake!” - Claudia Walker

“Thanks to my talented family, I-three learned to harmonize to the rhythm of turn signals and windshield wipers on those long, lovely road trips. As a youth, I dove into every avenue of performance at Whidbey Children's Theater and WICA. Now I’m gratefully thriving in L.A. as an actress/singer/creator.” - Amy Walker

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts would like to begin by acknowledging that we gather on the ancestral homelands, originally known as Tscha-kole-chy (SHA-KOL-CHI) in Lushootseed (LU-SHOOT-SEED), of the Coastal Salish Peoples, on the lands of the lower Skagit, Tulalip (tuh·lay·luhp), Swinomish (SWIN-ə-mish), Snohomish (snō-hō-mish), Stillaguamish (still-uh-GWAH-mish), and Suquamish (soo-kwah-mish), who have lived in the Salish Sea basin since time immemorial and have hunted, fished, gathered, and taken care of these lands.

We respect their sovereignty, their right to self-determination, and we honor their sacred spiritual connection with the land and water.

Please join us in expressing our deepest respect and gratitude to the indigenous people of this territory and for their enduring care and protection of the land in which we currently occupy and share through the Treaty of Point Elliott signed by 82 tribes in Múckl-te-óh (Mukilteo) on January 22, 1855.
