WICA is proud to participate in The Ghostlight Project. With theatres all across the country, we will pledge ourselves to uphold the values of openness, inclusion, diversity, and compassion for everyone.
At precisely 5:30 p.m. in each time zone across the country, members of the theater community – from Broadway to regional theaters to high schools and colleges and community theaters – will come together to launch The Ghostlight Project. Gathering outside of theaters on the eve of the Presidential Inauguration, people will join in a collective, simultaneous action, together creating “light” for times ahead. Inspired by the tradition of leaving a “ghost light” on in a darkened theater, these artists and communities will make a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone.
Everyone in the community is welcome to join in the event and bring their own light (i.e. flashlight, cellphone, etc.) to the project. WICA’s event will include a performance by the Open Circle Singers and the lighting of a new outdoor ghostlight. For more information, please visit www.theghostlightproject.com.
