One WOman Band, Katyrose’s senior recital, will be a performance held to thank and honor the community and her friends and family who supported her throughout her artist life. Because she loves many genres and instruments, the program will reflect that; she is now an avid lover and student of jazz, fiddle, folk, and acoustic music, and loves to sing, play the flute, saxophone, and guitar in equal measure. Following the concert will be refreshments and merriment for all!
Katyrose Jordan is a senior at South Whidbey High School. She was adopted from China at the age of seven months, but has spent the other 17.4 years on Whidbey Island. Growing up with a fine arts painter for a father and a potter for a mother has given her a high appreciation for the arts. Katyrose discovered music as her first love when she began playing violin at age three; she continued to play and love the instrument, though she developed a desire to learn more instruments and more genres outside of classical violin. She is now an avid lover and student of jazz, fiddle, folk, and acoustic music, and loves to sing, play the flute, saxophone, and guitar in equal measure. She wishes to find a career as a performer, artist, and teacher, and to create art across mediums that will help to make social change and impact.
