Acting for Stage and Screen: WICA Youth Conservatory

Instructor David Churchill is again offering a comprehensive acting program for young theatre artists.

The six-day immersion will cover:

• voice work
• classical (including Shakespeare) and contemporary styles
• scene analysis
• theatre games
• partnered scene work for both stage and film

The final day of the workshop will include presentations of both the theatre and filmed scenes. The workshop’s emphasis will be on the actor’s ability to create authenticity through imagination and connection.

About the Instructor

David Churchill has been writing, directing, and acting since he was nine years old. A graduate of Western Washington University, majoring in Theatre; he then studied acting for years with Mark Jenkins and Robin Lynn Smith at Freehold Studios, who were students of Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner, respectively. His work spans all genres and periods of theater, and includes directing and playing Hamlet and Macbeth. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and insights with students eager to learn about the art of theatre, principally the subtleties of acting.
