Squeeze Box
A one-woman show with Ann Randolph
Produced by Mel Brooks and the late Ann Bancroft
Saturday, May 9 @ 8:00 pm
Adults $21.50 / Seniors $19.50
R-rated
Following the sold-out performance of her one-woman show “Loveland” last October, Ann Randolph is returning to the WICA Michael Nutt Mainstage with her show “Squeeze Box.”
With pathos and humor, Randolph skillfully weaves together stories about working in a women’s homeless shelter and the pursuit of true love. Her painfully funny portraits of the shelter’s residents, and hilarious account of her hiking trip with Harold, the accordionist of her dreams, are beautifully drawn in this poignant tale about finding dignity and grace in unusual places. Squeeze Box played off Broadway for six months before touring the US’s regional theater circuit and headlining the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Squeeze Box has won numerous awards including:
“Ovation Award,” Los Angeles most prestigious award for theater
“Best Solo Show” – Los Angeles Times
“Best Solo Performer” – LA Weekly
“Best Solo Show” – LA Weekly
“One of those lightning strikes that happen in Los Angeles.” — Anita Gates, The New York Times
“She goes in and out of these characters. I’ve been around, and I haven’t seen so much talent in one person since I married Anne Bancroft. I’ve got to say that these are two great Anns, and I am glad that they hooked up together.” — Mel Brooks
“Squeeze Box is the Marsh at its best: understated and brilliant.” — Doug Konecky, SF Theater Blog
“Rubber-faced Randolph is wickedly hysterical.” — Los Angeles Times
