MORE ABOUT THE ORGANIC FARM SCHOOL

A mixture of cover crops working to feed the soil in a block that recently grew vegetables.

Sheep help feed the soil at the Organic Farm School by adding fertility and stimulating growth of pasture grasses.

By the time the fog of Fall starts rolling in, most of the blocks at the Organic Farm School are planted in cover crops to continue feeding the soil throughout the winter.

At the OFS, we try to retain “permanent beds” to reduce the need for tillage as we look to bed prep in the spring. For this reason, we put down straw in the tractor paths to maintain cover and protect against erosion. Notice the rye (a cover crop) beginning to grow in the actual beds.
