Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is thrilled to bring back its conservatory youth training. This comprehensive theatre summer camp is built around professional level training and experiences for youth of all experience levels. Camp lead instructor, David Churchill, offers a deep dive into actor training and technique wrapped around scenes from Classic and Contemporary Theatre to include scenes from Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen and Tennessee Williams. The Conservatory ends with an evening of scene work on Friday, August 12th at 7pm, open to the general public!

About the Lead Instructor
David Churchill has been writing, directing, and acting for fifty years. A graduate of Western Washington University, majoring in Theater; he then studied for years with Mark Jenkins and Robin Lynn Smith at Freehold Studios, who were students of Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner, respectively. His work spans all genres and periods of theater, and includes directing and playing Hamlet and Macbeth. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and insights with students eager to learn about the art of theater, with an emphasis on the actor’s ability to create authenticity through imagination and connection.
