In Concert: Gloria Ferry-Brennan, violin, with Mark Findlay, piano.

Local artists Gloria Ferry-Brennan and Mark Findlay return to the WICA stage to present an evening of chamber music masterpieces featuring Beethoven’s electrifying “Kreutzer” sonata and Brahms’ dramatic third sonata in d minor. Rounding out the program will be works by Tchaikovsky and Kreisler.

About the Artists

Gloria Ferry-Brennan, violin

Gloria Ferry-Brennan studied with Simon James in Seattle and Pamela Frank at the Curtis Institute of music in Philadelphia. Her summer studies have included the Perlman Music Program and The Aspen Music Festival. Gloria has appeared as a soloist with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Avanti Orchestra, the Saratoga Orchestra, the Ottawa (KS) Chamber Orchestra, the Seattle Festival Orchestra, the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Northwest, among others. She released her first CD with her band 3 Cent Stamp in 2015. Gloria won first place in the Music Teachers National Association Junior Strings Competition, 3rd place in the Johansen International Competition for Young String Players, and was a concerto competition winner of the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival. She performed in the finals of the International Menuhin Competition and was featured on the National Public Radio program, "From the Top".

Mark Findlay, piano

Mark Findlay received his bachelor's and master's degree in piano performance from the Indiana University School of Music where he studied with Karen Shaw and Michel Block. Mark has participated in chamber and solo master classes with Arnold Steinhart, Michael Tree, James Tocco and Walter Robert and has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Mark has also appeared as a featured artist on WGMS radio in Washington D.C. Since moving to Whidbey Island in 2012, Mark has appeared in concert numerous times at WICA in both chamber and solo performances and has participated as orchestra pianist with the Saratoga Chamber Orchestra.
