Falstaff in Love
by Scott Kaiser

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is excited to announce the upcoming opening of Falstaff in Love, a fresh, pseudo-Shakespearean comedy by Scott Kaiser and directed by Executive Artistic Director Deana Duncan. The show will run from December 7-December 23 and includes an amazing cast of actors from Whidbey Island, Port Townsend, California, and Canada. Through strong fight choreography, live music, and audience interaction, Shakespeare’s beloved character Sir John Falstaff comes to life.

"You don’t want to miss this," says Duncan. "We’ve never produced anything like Falstaff in Love. It’s not a Shakespeare play, but because Scott Kaiser is such a genius, the play feels like one of Shakespeare’s strongest comedies."

"I haven’t had this much fun in a very long time," says Duncan. "To be in the rehearsal hall with these amazing actors and working with a strong design team, I’m reminded how important live theatre is. This art form is rare in that it’s not perfect—perfectly imperfect actually. Theatre allows space for our humanness and then shares that with an audience, creating a once-in-a-lifetime “moment” every night."
