Food and Country: with the Organic Farm School

  • Whidbey Island Center for the Arts PO Box 52 | 565 Camano Avenue Langley, WA 98260 (map)

Join us for a thought-provoking event hosted by the Organic Farm School! Executive Director Judy Feldman highlights this film as the first to truly address the question, “How do we, as a society, value food?” Created during the pandemic, it features farmers and chefs who reveal how COVID-19 exposed the flaws in our food system and calls for systemic change to build resilience.

This film is a compelling follow-up to the “Roots So Deep” series shown at WICA last spring. We hope it will inspire hope and spark lively conversations. The event includes an almost 2-hour film screening followed by an immediate talkback session.

About the film

America’s policy of producing cheap food at all costs has long hobbled small independent farmers, ranchers, and chefs. Worried for their survival, trailblazing food writer Ruth Reichl reaches out across political and social divides to uncover the country’s broken food system and the innovators risking it all to transform it.
